Shamanism is the world’s oldest recorded method of expanding consciousness and of entering altered states through the shamanic dynamic journey.  The word Shaman comes from the Tungus, Siberian word which means ‘one who knows, one who sees in the dark’, as experienced through the shamanic journey. Alberto Villoldo describes journeying as “an ancient technology that allows intentional interactions with an invisible energy that we are all part of” (1/P.11). Journeying takes place in the timeless now, with access to past, present and future.

Shamanism offers simple techniques for accessing energy, power, vision, healing, creativity and immediate spiritual experience.  It restores spiritual sovereignty, which is the birthright of every human being, by teaching people how to connect with their own Spirit and with the Spirit that is in all form.  It is not a religion, philosophy or belief system.  It is a living tradition, a way of life: of living in harmony, balance, honour and respect for all life forms.

Shamanism was star seeded at the dawn of civilisation to gift human beings with the wisdom and understandings required to fulfil our role as caretakers of the earth and all her kingdoms.  It was universal as illustrated by the Palaeolithic cave drawings found on every continent on the planet, some carbon dated back 30,000 years.  Though called by different names it is still practised by all indigenous peoples, including the Maoris and American Indians.

There is evidence that at the origins of Western civilisation is the dream, the vision, the journey, which lies at the root of everything.  Professor Peter Kingsley, in his groundbreaking book: “IN THE DARK PLACES OF WISDOM,” describes discoveries made in 1962 in southern Italy in the form of archaeological inscriptions pertaining to Parmenides who lived 2,500 years ago. “Parmenides is called the father of Western rationalism.  Even Plato addresses him as father….He is the father of the way we think, the way we function, the way we consciously perform in the world, the way we live.”(3)

The inscriptions showed that Parmenides was the head of a lineage of Iatromantis, which literally means healer/prophets who work through incubation. Incubation was an ancient method of lying in utter stillness, often in a cave, for hours and sometimes days, and through this stillness experiencing another state of consciousness in order to receive knowledge. Iatromantis were professionals at entering other realities through incubation and bringing back wisdom and knowledge for the sake of healing.

According to Professor Kingsley: “Iatromantis is nothing but the Greek word for what we would call a shaman”(3) while incubation is a method of entering the shamanic state of consciousness through the journey to other worlds for the purpose of retrieving wisdom and healing.  (3)”You see that the whole of Western culture, everything that matters came originally from that other state of consciousness,” including logic, laws, maths, physics, chemistry, astronomy, cosmology and so on. In those times all the sciences were intended for healing. For example, laws were brought from the invisible world of Spirit for the sake of healing not only individuals, but for the sake of healing societies and cultures as a whole.

From the West Parmenide’s lineage spread to the East from Italy into Greece, into what is now Turkey, into China, Mongolia and Tibet. We don't have to look to the East for spiritual wisdom. Our task is to draw our Western civilisation back to its shamanic source, which lies at the roots of the West. It is only by going back to these roots that there can be a collective healing, according to Professor Kingsley. (3)

Shamanic Wisdoms

Shamanic healing is a spiritual form of healing which embodies the wisdom that everything has Spirit and is therefore interconnected through the Spirit that moves in all form.  This is illustrated in the ancient shamanic symbol of the Web, which is creation, while the shaman is depicted as the spider, the navigator of the Web, who weaves all into harmony and balance.  The shaman is also symbolised as the Tree of Life, the one who journeys through the three worlds – the upper, middle and lower worlds – to connect with Spirit helpers for the purpose of healing and wisdom. According to Alberto Villoldo, the lower world to pertains to the past, the unconscious. It is the realm of the soul or anima and of power animals .It is the archetypal domain of the Great Mother where soul parts often go for the protection they did not receive from their biological mother. The middle world pertains to the conscious, the present, the physical world we live in, whereas the upper world is the invisible realm of spiritual teachers, of our spirit and destiny.  It pertains to the future and superconsciousness. (1)

I experience the shaman as one who lives in the Oneness and serves the Oneness, accessing it for healing and wisdom.  The shaman is often described as the hollow bone, the bridge used for healing by helping Spirits.   The role of the shaman is to heal all things of earth, sky and spirit, past, present, or future, living or dead.

The Marriage of Science and Shamanism

Shamanism is based on the wisdom that everything has Spirit – the light and consciousness of God in form – and therefore all is one, and interconnected in the web of Oneness.  The scientific Gaia concept holds that the Earth is a living, breathing, conscious organism.  Popp, a Zero Point Field scientist, postulates that we are beings of light and that the light and light waves are stored in our DNA which drives the processes of the body.  Puthof and other Zero Point Field researchers postulate through numerous studies, described by Lynne McTaggart in "THE FIELD" that: "The universe is a vast, dynamic cobweb of energy exchange......We and all matter of the universe are literally connected to the farthest reaches of the cosmos through the Zero Point Field waves of the grandest dimensions.”(2/p94)  The Unity Principle of Quantum Science also maintains that everything is one and interconnected.

Quantum Science further acknowledges the existence of parallel universes which can be accessed through altered states of consciousness.  Stanislow Grof’s book: “THE COSMIC GAME”, the result of 50 years of research, is a textbook of consciousness.  Grof maintains that in altered states of consciousness, people can move across time and space and access Spirit helpers.  Ervin Laszlo’s model, the Zero Point Field, provides the ultimate holographic blueprint of the world for all time, past, present and future.  Albert Einstein wrote: “ For us convinced physicists, the distinction between past, present, and future is an illusion, although a persistent one”. The Zero Point Field Pear studies further suggest that there is a no time or space, that life exists as one enormous present.

The concept of the Zero Point Field is elaborated by Lynne McTaggart in her groundbreaking book: “THE FIELD”, which offers a science of spirituality. In future, the shaman and the scientist will work together again, renewing their ancient connection in a new marriage.  It is the Zero Point Field that healers tap into and which enables shamans, with Spirit help, to heal all things of earth, sky and spirit, past, present or future, living or dead.

Shamanic Healing

Shamanically, the original source of all illness, whether it be physical, mental or emotional is understood to have its cause in spiritual disharmony. All unwellness and pain is a wakeup call, an opportunity for personal growth and spiritual evolution. The shaman's role is to undertake a spiritual, diagnostic journey to find the source of the client’s dis-ease, and with Spirit helpers, to heal the source on all levels, in whatever lifetime, and assist the client to heal the manifestations of pain or disease and recreate harmony.

Traditionally shamanic healing focuses on finding the spiritual source, removing what does not serve and filling the vacant space with all that enhances radiant health. The shamanic journey is the central healing tool in order to connect with Spirit helpers to diagnose and alleviate suffering.

Spiritual factors that can bring about illness fall into two main categories:

1. Those that involve Spirit loss important to the client's health.

2. Those that involve the taking in of energies or spirit(s) detrimental to the client's wellbeing.

Spirit Loss

An epidemic form of loss in our Western culture is spiritual power loss through the loss of the Guardian Spirit assigned to each human being on birth, which Catholics recognize as Guardian Angels.  These personal Guardian Spirits are gifted by the Creator to help us avoid illness, accidents and misfortune.

The Symptoms of loss of personal, spiritual power are chronic misfortune, accidents, ill health and/or depression often accompanied by a sense of powerlessness and victim mentality.  No matter what they do or how hard they try, such people cannot manifest what they want in life.

The shamanic form of healing for loss of personal, spiritual power is Guardian Spirit help retrieval often in the form of power animals or their angelic presence. I like to further empower clients by teaching them to journey to retrieve their own Spirit helpers, during which they learn to connect strongly with their own Spirit as well as create a personal relationship with their helping Spirits whom they can then continue to journey to anytime they choose.

Another major form of spiritual loss is Soul loss. The soul retains the memories of all previous lifetimes as well as containing the potential of who we are capable of becoming. Soul is defined as pure essence, the spiritual essence required for each of us to remain alive and vital. A coma signifies massive Soul loss, while death is complete Soul loss as it leaves the physical body entirely.

Soul loss occurs as the result of a shock or trauma.  The more severe the shock or trauma, the more severe the Soul loss such as in war, incest, abuse and surgery.

Soul loss is nature's spontaneous survival mechanism in which part of us splits off in order to cushion the full impact of the trauma.  Psychology describes this phenomenon as dissociation. The problem arises when the soul part does not come back, either because it is lost or it does not know that it is now safe to return.

The symptoms indicating Soul loss are dispiritedness, disassociation and a feeling of not being all here. Clients often describe themselves as not being fully present in their lives, that something is missing, that they feel full of holes or have difficulty connecting with themselves and others.  A common experience of Soul loss, especially following surgery or significant relationship loss or death, is the feeling of being up on the ceiling looking down upon themselves performing their daily tasks.

The form of shamanic healing for Soul loss is Soul Retrieval in which the shaman journeys spiritually to find the soul part(s) and blow them into the client.  Soul retrieval restores the portion(s) of the client’s soul that left at the time of the trauma in order to escape and preserve the part of the personality or qualities, such as innocence and trust in incest case, which existed prior to the experience. It brings back the prior qualities and parts that did NOT experience the event, not the memories of the trauma. It is optimally combined with psychotherapy and often essences are given to assist the integration of the soul part(s).

Soul retrieval is most helpful in cases of mental, physical and emotional trauma and in cases of addiction eg. dependency on food, drugs and/or alcohol which the client uses to fill the emptiness resulting from Soul loss.

It is crucial to address major Soul loss now so that we do not pass it on to our children and carry it into our future incarnations. For when we heal ourselves, we heal our ancestors and our children's children also.

The second major source of illness is the taking in of energies or spirit(s) that are detrimental to our wellbeing.  People suffering from spiritual power loss and/or Soul loss are particularly vulnerable to this.

Such energies are called Spiritual intrusions arising from hostile thoughts, emotions, or acts sent consciously or unconsciously by another.  It can also be the result of cellular memory lodged in the body as a result of trauma. Negativity in society, my own negative thinking or unexpressed emotions can also form blocks or intrusions within my body.

Because of their localised nature, intrusions tend to produce discomfort and pain and, if untreated, can eventually develop into disease.

The symptoms indicating the presence of intrusions are chronic areas of discomfort and dysfunction in the body such as poor digestion and elimination, chronic neck and heart problems as well as diseases like cancer and diabetes.

The form of shamanic healing for this condition is Extraction in which the shaman journeys to locate and remove the intrusions, with Spirit help, transmuting them and filling the vacant space as directed to optimise wellbeing.

A person who has severe spiritual power loss and/or Soul loss is susceptible to Involuntary Spirit possession by spirits of deceased beings who are lost and unable to pass over and are often not aware that they are dead.  They enter dispirited people and often alcohol and drug addicts who are barely” at home”. They often maintain the behaviours they had while alive through their host’s physical body.

The signs of involuntary Spirit possession are:

v     an appearance of greyness in colouring, of pallidness with dead, empty looking eyes.

v     chronic drained energy, often involving major headaches and illness.

v     marked personality change and/or changes in behaviour patterns e.g. new cravings or        beginning to smoke or drink suddenly.

v     strange behaviour and occurrences such as accidents.

Colin Ross, in his book: ”MULTIPLE PERSONALITY DISORDERS”, suggests that this condition is often due to involuntary possession by spirits.

The form of shamanic healing for this condition is Spirit Depossession in which the shaman journeys, and with spirit help, enables the possessing spirit(s) to leave the client and to pass over, which is also known as psychopomp healing.

Spirit depossession is most helpful in cases of alcohol and drug dependency and mental and emotional illness.

All the forms of shamanic healing outlined above are interwoven in the healing process.  For example, Guardian Spirit retrieval is especially indicated after depossession work, along with extraction to cleanse and fill the space vacated so that the client is not vulnerable to further intrusions and possession.  Soul retrieval is also of great assistance to ensure the client is further inspirited in order to prevent future intrusions and possessions as well as to assist in the client’s recuperation and integration.

All the above healing is recommended only when done by a qualified shamanic healing practitioner.

Often clients feel, see or sense strongly what occurs in their shamanic healing while others experience nothing during or after but, regardless of which occurs, their life changes as they integrate the healings.

For example, a man came to me with acute eczema over his face and body, which the medical profession had been unable to clear over some years. He experienced nothing during or after the healing.  About six months later he returned stating that his eczema had vanished and that he now wanted to focus on finding employment. Again he experienced nothing during or after the sessions. He returned some time later to say that the eczema was still nonexistent, that he had a good job and now he wanted to focus on attracting an intimate relationship. Again he experienced nothing and later was delighted to share that he had a wonderful relationship also and felt fulfilled and happy.

The healing involves journeying with Spirit helpers to find the spiritual source of the problem each time, healing the wounds at their source, clearing the karma involved for all concerned and updating the essence levels of the erroneous beliefs created.  Extraction follows removing the blocks held in all bodies (physical, mental, emotional etc), from all lifetimes, right back to their source.  The next step is to retrieve the Soul part(s) needed, whether of this or previous lifetimes, as well as Spirit helpers with the beliefs, abilities and qualities required to assist the client in achieving the new goals.

With the vibrations of the planet rising continuously many, many people are experiencing healing crises and illness as these higher vibrations clash with the density of their unfinished business. These rising vibrations are ushering in evermore unlimited healing and spiritual assistance. I find that the most powerful form of healing I can offer is spiritual extraction and Spirit and Soul retrievals.  This usually now takes the form of karmic extraction and Soul retrieval, healing the original wounding and releasing the core issue from this and all significant, previous lifetimes as well as other time/space lifetimes. More and more people are achieving karmic pattern completions for themselves, their lineages and the planet, which is offered to all of us in this lifetime.

Alberto Villoldo writes: “ I've learned that while observing (past trauma) is immensely transforming, it's only the first part of the process - you must also coax the soul part to return, then tear up or rewrite archaic soul contracts that have ceased to serve you, and finally track a future destiny that you can install into the present.” (1/P31).  Soul contracts are often unconscious promises that we make to survive a situation. For example:” I will be good or the best to get mummy's love.”  They are the source of many limiting beliefs which keep us repeating the original situation and pain.

I also find it important to clear personal and lineage oaths and curses from all lifetimes, which continue to impact the client unconsciously.

An example of the unlimited scale of healing being offered at this time is a client who came with a history of depression throughout her life, which is a classic symptom of severe Spirit power loss.  She also felt something was missing, that she was disconnected from other people as well as the earth, classic symptoms of Soul loss.  She felt her life was empty and meaningless and at times wanted to be dead.

I journeyed to find the source of her depression which I learned was the theme of some of her previous lifetimes also. With immense spiritual assistance this was cleared in all bodies and lifetimes, throughout her chakras and aura. I was directed to do a karmic completion for her around the issue of depression so that it stops here, now. The wounds involved were healed at their source and the essence levels of erroneous beliefs created were updated.

I retrieved many gifts for her from the Void where the Creator resides. The Void holds our Divine Blueprints which have experienced only the love and light of God.  “I” refers to myself as simply a bridge for the Oneness, Spirit to provide all that the client needs.

 With Spirit help I retrieved:

v     Seven Void chakras which will eventually replace of her existing chakras which contain much pain and cellular memory. They will also increase her life force considerably.

v     I was given a sword by St Michael the Archangel to place over her chakras as a protective   shield as well as for her to use to cut away any cords or energies that do not serve her.

v     A Void brain, heart and womb were gifted to assist the release of old cellular memory, pain, patterns and thought forms and align them with Divine Love and Wisdom.

v     Her Angelic Presence asked to return, as her vibrations were now sufficiently lightened to receive and hold her, and I had the great privilege of blowing her into my client.

v     I retrieved power animals in the form of a dolphin for joy and lightness of being and a huge bear for grounding, feeling safe and for continued wisdom and healing.

v     I was gifted for her a rainbow aura to act as a healing buffer zone from outside dense energies and to use for self healing, directing it wherever appropriate.  The rainbow aura was further surrounded by a golden cocoon, like an egg shell of protection, to seal all in and cocoon her as she integrates.

I recommended that she continue psychotherapy to assist the integration and referred her to a distinguished healer for the vitamins, minerals and essences which she may require.

I wish to make explicit that it is not I who heals. It is that the client’s Spirit, through me, is offering her the opportunity to clear the obstructions to restoring what has been lost or forgotten so that she can reconnect with her multidimensional Self and thereby continue to sustain, enhance and heal herself. In reconnecting with her own Divinity she remembers that she can heal herself from within.

Many Void retrievals are now occurring for those who are ready, thereby offering the finest vibrations and unlimited healing to assist us in walking the earth in our full Human Divinity in fulfilment of the Divine Plan unfolding in perfection.
